About This Place

Located in the heart of New York City’s Nolita neighborhood, Lombardi’s is more than just a pizza restaurant—it’s a culinary landmark steeped in history and bursting with authentic Italian flavors. Widely celebrated as America’s first licensed pizzeria since 1905, Lombardi’s serves up classic New York-style pies that have become synonymous with the city’s iconic pizza scene. At 32 Spring St, this legendary spot offers an inviting atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between cozy old-school charm and lively neighborhood vibrancy.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Original Margherita Pizza, featuring a brilliant harmony of tangy tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, romano cheese, and fragrant basil atop a perfectly crisp, coal-fired crust. The crust itself is a testament to Lombardi’s meticulous craft—light, crunchy, and infused with a subtle char that adds depth to every bite. For those seeking something a little different, the White Ricotta Pizza is a luxurious, tomato-free option loaded with creamy ricotta, mozzarella, garlic oil, herbs, and a peppery kick of black pepper and romano cheese.

Beyond pizzas, the menu extends to satisfy every Italian craving. Indulge in a hearty plate of Rigatoni & Meatball or savor the flaky, tender Calzone Personal filled with fresh mozzarella and basil. The fresh antipasti options, like the Bruschetta on Rustic Bread and zesty Tomato and Mozzarella Salad, tease the palate with vibrant Mediterranean textures and flavors. For a finishing touch, do not miss the iconic Classic New York Cheesecake, decadently smooth and cherry-garnished—a perfect end to your meal.

The beverage selection complements the fare elegantly, with choices like the refreshing Vanilla Italian Soda and essential sodas, ensuring every meal is perfectly paired and balanced.

Customers consistently praise Lombardi’s for delivering not only exceptional food but also a warm and welcoming experience. As Kelly Smith shares, “The staff is warm, friendly, and genuinely makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere is perfect—whether you’re on a casual night out or bringing family and friends, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger.” Manikandan highlights the perfect char on the coal-fired crust and the tangy, balanced sauce that epitomizes traditional New York pizza.

Some diners, like Leesa Tran, appreciate the opportunity to sample both Lombardi’s signature Margherita—though intensively sour—and the classic pepperoni offering, noting how the crunchy crust stands out in every slice. While takeout occasionally requires patience, as noted by A R, the overall quality secures Lombardi’s place among the city’s top pizzerias, a sentiment echoed by Hillary Kate, who calls it a “must try” for locals and visitors alike.

Whether you’re a lifelong New Yorker or a pizza enthusiast traveling through, Lombardi’s invites you to experience a piece of pizza history served with genuine Italian passion and dedication. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an immersion into the heart and soul of NYC’s beloved pizza tradition.

Lombardi’s will always be favorite pizza spot to go to! You can’t miss eating pizza here whenever you are from NY or out of state. Amazing pastas and dessert as well. Great Service as well!! There are so many Italian restaurants in NYC but this one, one of the best with warm and welcoming vibes! Must try!

Apparently this is the first pizza place in America, so we had to try the dish they’re famous for. We ordered half of their signature pizza and half of a different one so we could sample both. I personally wasn’t a big fan of the signature pizza as the flavor was a bit too sour for my taste but the “regular” cheese and pepperoni was really good. I also loved how crunchy the crust was. Overall, a cool spot to try for the history and the variety.

Lombardi’s Pizza in Nolita delivers that classic New York slice experience with a cozy, old-school charm. The coal-fired crust has a perfect char, the sauce is tangy and balanced, and the mozzarella ties everything together beautifully. Fun fact: Lombardi’s is widely recognized as America’s first licensed pizzeria, opening its doors in 1905.

Have lived in NYC for over 20 years and have never tried Lombardi's. We wanted something new pizza wise so today was the day to finally experience Lombardi's. The pizza was very good, definitely within the top 5 or 6 NYC spots we've tried over the years and our dog even loved the crust! We did order takeout which took two plus hours to arrive. Next time we would dine here in person instead of waiting so long for delivery and in fairness, we live on the UWS so it is a long trip for delivery. All in all the pizza was certainly enjoyable.

Established in 1905, Historic pizzeria with charming, old-school vibe and simple but tasty pizza Lombardi’s is known as the first pizzeria in America, and it has a charming, old-school atmosphere — very different from the typical New York-style pizza. The coal-baked crust gives the pizza a unique flavor, and while the pies are simple rather than fancy, they are still very good and satisfying. The service is friendly, but the CASH-ONLY policy is something to keep in mind. Overall, it’s a nostalgic, tasty experience for anyone looking to taste a piece of pizza history. Simple, authentic, and full of character.

You can really taste the history and tradition in every slice. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a real NYC pizza experience. I’d absolutely come back again.
